Name :
Grid Cain
Created by :
Dr.Cain
Hunter Rank :
Special A (SA)
Great A (GA) (pre-X7)
Hunter Unit :
God of Chaos Solo Hunter Unit (formerly known as Hunter Unit 04)
Attitude :
Grid has a great sense of duty, but few friends. He needs to learn to trust; both himself and others... Feared by most other hunters for his special 'Half Maverick' status. He rarely stops fighting to go and let loose; when he does, though, he's actually fun to hang out with.
Equipment :
G-Saber MKIII : The most destructive of all beam sabers. Its attack power is twice that of a regular Saber (would take twice as much HP from an enemy's HP bar as Zero's Z-Saber) and also has more or less twice the reach.
Movement Armor : Grid's standard armor has flight systems which allow him to dash, air dash in any direction (including upwards and downwards if needed), hover, glide and also to just fly around. It's also got defense worthy of a basic X armor, but has no Buster to it.
Sword skills : Grid can't learn attacks from enemies, but he always is perfecting his fighting style in order to dish out more damage (Best excuse I can find for me giving him a variety of different attacks... eventually).
Viral Angel Armor : Doubles Grid's defense ability, while stripping him of his G-Saber to make place for 4 G-Busters (basically, each buster is as strong as a basic armor's buster), which can be used individually or together in a variety of ways; strongest ability with the G-Busters being to use all 4 at one time to fire one big blast of mass destruction. Grid can still fly using this armor; his maximal flight speed with it is also doubled. However, due to how heavy it is, Grid has a hard time moving his limbs around, so his reaction time can be slower if the target is to his side or behind him. With the Viral Angel Armor equipped, Grid cannot go Maverick.
Attack Armor : Gives Grid the G-Gear, a multi-purpose backpack. It changes into a huge sword, a boomerang or a jetpack at will. However, it does have a few bugs. While the sword mode gives Grid an insanely powerful Saber of great size, he's slower when using it, and can't fly either. Not to mention his back has no defense without the G-Gear on it. When using it as a jetpack, Grid also has no defense. So it's basically a super-offensive armor.
Defense Armor : This armor comes with two double-bladed beamsabers attached to his arms with high-speed rotative ability, turning them into saw blades of sorts and into shields at the same time. He can throw them and they'll come back and attach onto his arms again. This armor also has two normal shields mounted onto his back which can be taken off at will, and overall has twice the defensive power of a normal armor.
Infinite Armor : This armor is more or less the same as the Movement Armor, but with everything slightly improved. In addition to that, the belt has two slots to attach various pieces of equipment to, but the greatest addition is the wings, which hold a total of 8 remote-controlled flying turrets for Grid to dominate the battlefield with. This armor is given to him sometime before the seventh X game takes place.
Cheval SE : A bike equipped with serious firepower. Has no dash function, but instead can fly and is insanely fast.
Maverick Virus : Due to his status as a prototype, the Maverick Virus had an usual effect on Grid. It only infected his Battle OS. So basically, in battle, Grid begins being his normal self, with well-thought strategies and well-thought actions. However, as the fight goes on, his Battle OS gets infected, and Grid slowly loses himself to the Virus, though he can try fighting it. Eventually, Grid goes Maverick, and slaughters friends or foes alike, without caring who they are. Grid's Maverick status ends when the fight ends, as his Battle OS automatically resets itself by then.
Background : Created as the final prototype for Reploids, Grid was based directly on X; Dr.Cain still had a hard time working on replicating X's weapon system by then, so he omitted it. Cain showed Grid to the governments of the world to get funds to create reploids by using the data he acquired while creating Grid and from studying X. Grid soon went to do his own thing; he went into the military, where he downloaded a great many programs; by doing so, Grid learned to use virtually all weapon types around, but decided to favor two-handed swords. Soon after, Mavericks started appearing; Grid and some other reploids founded the Maverick Hunters. Grid was assigned to lead Hunter Unit 04. Things went well then; Grid was a very capable leader, who earned much respect from other Hunters. Then, Sigma went Maverick, infecting his entire Unit... Grid also got infected, though he didn't know at first. It was during his next mission that he got to know this; he, on his own, killed off the Mavericks Unit 04 was supposed to hunt. Then he killed civilians that were there... And then he killed off his entire Unit.
The hunter authorities decided to keep Unit 04 as an active unit. However, they renamed it the 'God of Chaos Solo Hunter Unit', and made it so that it'd only be called for for heavy-casuality missions. One of which involved Grid destroying Vile, during Rockman X1, but the opposite happened, and Grid was retired. ...Only to be fully repaired by just after the end of Rockman X2, timeline-wise. So he resumed his hunting operations then; then Doppler showed up... And Grid became Dr.Cain's greatest interest; as Doppler revealed that Mavericks were made from a Virus, and Grid was only Half Maverick... Which made him both a good subject to test vaccines on, and also a good way to research the virus itself. From then and on, he spent his time doing Hunting and being in Cain's lab. Until the Viral Angel Armor was develloped, sometime after X4. Its schematics had been stolen once by a mysterious figure, but it still made it to Grid in its fully completed form; the Viral Angel is basically a Grid-only anti-viral armor... As sadly enough, the research on Grid didn't lead to a working anti-virus for other reploids.
